The Future Mothers Tent is included in the group exhibition Living in these Bodies: highlighting the physical and cultural space women occupy, at Waterfall Arts in Belfast, Maine. Artists Colleen Kinsella and Elizabeth Jabar will lead a printmaking workshop on Saturday, August 2 from 10-2PM, and participate in an artists panel talk on Thursday, August 14 at 7PM. Future Mothers Printmaking Workshop
Image Traffic: printmaking and the appropriated image Contemporary prints often steal, borrow, recycle, and reinterpret images from popular culture, media outlets, and art history. This image making strategy has become a powerful tool for artists interested in social commentary and narrative. In this workshop participants will work with found and appropriated imagery, including the Future Mothers image lexicon. Utilizing a range of techniques including rubber stamps, xerox lithography, screen printing, and chine colle, participants will reinterpret and recombine a series of images into a new visual narrative. Participating artists will help create and take home a collaborative zine.
